What is Coaching?
ICF (International Coach Federation) defines Coaching as partnering with clients *. This arises through a creative process which provokes thought and inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is extremely important in the complex modern environment of uncertainty. Every Coach honors his client as an expert/ professional regarding his / her personal life and professional job objective and believes that each client is creative, inventive and constitutes a whole. Based on all of the above, a Coach is responsible for:
- Discovering, clearing and aligning with what the customer wants to do
- Encouraging self-discovery
- Eliciting solutions and strategies from the client
- Keeping the customer liable and accountable
The process above helps customers significantly improve their prospects / choices in their professional and personal lives, while improving their leadership skills and unleashing their potential.
* The one who receives the coaching services is called a client or coachee.
Is Coaching what you need?
In order to determine if you or your business could benefit from the Coaching process, start summarizing what you would like to achieve with Coaching. When a person or company has a clear picture of the desired outcome, the Coaching relationship can be a useful tool for developing a strategy on how to achieve a goal more easily.
As Coaching is basically a partnering, ask yourself whether the partnership, the existence of different aspects and perspectives are important for you. Also, ask yourself if you or your business, are ready to invest time and energy to cause real and meaningful changes. If the answer is yes, Coaching is a beneficial way to develop and evolve.
